BENECO Recognized for Excellence in Regulatory Compliance

The Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) has been recognized for its outstanding compliance with the Uniform Reportorial Requirements (URR) and the timely submission of its Annual Reports for the years 2021 to 2025. The recognition was conferred during the 25th Anniversary Celebration held in Ortigas Center, Pasig City on June 26, 2026.

BENECO was among only 12 distribution utilities nationwide to receive the distinction, joining one private distribution utility and ten electric cooperatives. Out of the country's 151 distribution utilities, this recognition highlights the recipients' commitment to consistently meeting regulatory requirements and upholding the highest standards of governance.

The award acknowledges the dedication of these distribution utilities to transparency, accountability and regulatory compliance - principles that are essential in ensuring reliable and responsible electric service to consumers.

BENECO General Manager Engr Melchor S. Licoben emphasized that the recognition reflects the cooperative's steadfast commitment to good governance and compliance with regulatory standards.

"This award is truly a testament to BENECO's transparency and accountability through its consistent compliance with all regulatory standards and requirements - not only those of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), but also of all regulatory agencies. As we know, distribution utilities are highly regulated by the Department of Energy (DOE), the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), the National Electrification Administration (NEA), the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP), and the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), as applicable. Beyond these regulatory agencies, BENECO likewise complies with the requirements of its various stakeholders."

The recognition further reinforces BENECO's commitment to responsible governance, operational excellence and its continuing mission to deliver quality service.
