Benguet Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BENECO) has planned to set up a Run-of-River type hydroelectric power generation facility along Brgy Sebang, Buguias, Benguet, in accordance with the Renewable Energy Law of the Philippines.
The first modest project of BENECO, DOE granted a Hydro Service Contract (HSC No.2009-10-30) to develop and operate a 3MW run-of-river minihydro power generation plant at Man-asok River in Buguias.
After securing the needed FPIC from the BADANG IP Group and consent from the LGUs, the groundbreaking was finally made on November 18, 2016.

Reduce CO2 emissions and improve world climate
The project area is located within the Sitio Alapang, Brgy Sebang, Buguias Benguet, about three hundred thirty (350) km north of Metro Manila.
Buguias Municipality is in the northern most part of Benguet. It has temperate climate, meandering rivers and magnificent scenic spots. Tourism contributes much to its economy. Buguias leading agricultural activity is vegetable production. Major crops produced are white potatoes, beans, peas, strawberries, cabbage, lettuce and, carrots. with the fabulous rivers. The target rivers, Loo and Man-asok currently serve as potable and irrigation water supply. Installation of a hydro-electric power supply in the area will provide adequate and reliable power supply to the area and thus provide impetus for more income generating businesses driving economic development of the municipality.
